The Hollywood Reporter has quietly revealed a few more panels heading to San Diego Comic-Con – including confirmation that Vikings and Bates Motel returns to the convention, and word on which panelists for Van Helsing will be in attendance.

Attendees can stop by the Vikings panel for a chat with stars Travis Fimmel, Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Gustaf Skarsgard, Alyssa Sutherland and Alexander Ludwig, along with creator Michael Hirst. We also expect you’ll get another exclusive Comic-Con comic book.

rollocomicLagertha’s journey home from Paris is plagued by trouble in the upcoming Titan Comics miniseries.
Fans of History’s Vikings won’t have to wait until the show’s return to find out more about the new world created following the disappearance of Ragnar following the showdown with his brother Rollo. This September, Titan Comics will launch a new comic book series that reveals what happened in the immediate aftermath of the series’ midseason finale.

Vikings: Uprising won’t focus on Travis Fimmel’s disgraced head of Kattegat nor Clive Standen’s ambitious sibling, however; instead, it’ll follow Ragnar’s ex-wife Lagertha (played by Katheryn Winnick on the show) as she escapes events in Paris, only to find herself forced to bear arms to prevent even more bloodshed and slaughter once she returns home.

The miniseries is the second Vikings comic from the publisher — the earlier Vikings: Godhead comic book sold out of its debut issue and went back to press — and sees writer Cavan Scott return to team with Batman and Wolverine artist Staz Johnson and explore what happened during the time jump of the show’s fourth season midpoint.

The first issue will be available for pre-order in July, with five covers by artists Chris Wahl, Mark Hammermeister, Claudia Caranfa, Verity Glass and Josh Burns, which can be seen below. The series will launch digitally and in comic book stores Sept. 14.

After rumors about Clive Standen’s possible exit from “Vikings” surfaced on different news sites, the actor confirmed that he has no plans of leaving his role as Rollo in the critically acclaimed historical drama series.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the actor shared that he will keep his role as the traitorous brother of the Vikings leader Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) even if he has been cast to play the lead role in NBC’s new show “Taken.”

According to the actor, working for two shows in different locations is a “happy problem” that he is willing to have.

“I’m going to be doing Taken until October time and I’m going to pick up and re-join the Vikings team later on in season five. I’m going straight from Toronto back to Dublin, so it’s a good problem to have!” the actor added.

Standen’s character Rollo was last seen when the Vikings, led by his brother Ragnar, raided Paris once again. But the Vikings lost to the Parisians, which helped Rollo earn the respect of his wife Gisla (Morgane Polanski) and her father, Emperor Charles (Lothaire Bluteau). But it does not mean that fans will no longer see Rollo and the Parisians in the second half of season 4.

Speaking with TVInsider, series creator Michael Hirst revealed his plans for Rollo when the series returns for season 4B.

“We do see Rollo again, absolutely. He’s too good to lose. Of course, it is true that the defeat in Paris did mark an ending,” Hirst said. “There’s no doubt that that’s the end of one part of the story, and it’s the beginning of a new part of the story. But it’s all part of the same saga.”

The series will also return with a significant time jump after the failed raid in Paris. In season 4 episode 11, Ragnar’s sons will be all grown-up and will fight over who should replace their father on the throne.

The History Channel is expected to air the midseason premiere episode of “Vikings” season 4 sometime this July.
